i have read the book. a foreign friiend recommended it to me and most of the people I know from denden (another forum I often go to because of the spice girls) liked it. I have read it and honestly, it made me also think. and question my faith a bit. the book is combination of facts (about christ, mary magdalene, etc...) and fiction (story of robert lang don and his search for the holy grail) as what the author said on his book "all description of artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals in this novels are accurate"
I'm noit surprised by the reaction of the church because like what i've said it made me question my own faith. since this movie is causing such an issue many people will definitely watch it. it's like "noli me tangere and el filibusterismo" of jose rizal. the spaniarrds forbid all the filipinos to read it but the curiosity got the better of them and they read it secretly.

I've also read the book a couple of months ago..also here in Italy there was some reaction from the catholic side,but not very meaningful.Personally,I liked it a lot,but I believe that most of what he wrote is fictional or based on theories,not history or reality.

i read the book , made me stop and think for a while, esp the part where it says whichever side of the history prevailed will be perceived as the truth. but i believe it will take more than a fiction to alter our faith esp if we are firm believers.

Totally agree..also because I think many books with similar books have already been written,maybe less famous than this,so we shouldn't let ourselves be influenced, by what we read.I think it's best to analyze,but then follow our hearts,even if it might sound stupid^^;

i haven't read the book but i've heard some things bout it that could really question one's faith... but i do believe that even if we're given such things if we really have faith in Him, no matter what we'll believe in Him... I am a Catholic and I have a great faith in God... I know that Da Vinci Code is just a mere imagination of the author... It's just a fiction... It's just the curiousity of the author that led him to create the book... ^-^
By the way, if I'll be permitted, I'll be watching it tomorrow... ^-^
But I asure you, no matter what i'll see, my faith will always be the same... ^-^

some of it are considered facts. I'm not sure about the issues on the bible.

I read some articles and saw some debates on tv..yhey say that probably the thing about Leonardo's painting is true,but not what he writes specifically about Jesus..but,well,u hear honestly too many opinions,at the end I choose to follow my own voice,eheh!But I'm curious about the movie too,even if I don't like very much Tom Hanks..maybe'cos I imagined a totally different Robert Langdon while reading the book!
