An-ni-o !! Laughing Thats impossible

Raymond

I bet you're also an asian, who was inlfuenced by the korean series just like us. but you migrated to saudi?
L4E

No.. I'm a Saudi born and bred here, my family is 100% Saudi..

I heared about Korean drama for the first time when I was reading Peach Girl manga and knew there was a drama about it.. I was interested but had no hope because I have a dial-up connection.. ehemm..

My brother knew about it from an anime download forum which offered also Asian Drama.. He is lucky because he has a 2+Mbit connection at work. so, he can download whatever he wants..

and I have to accept what he decides to share with me.. after a long time of bleading, he shared SGCH and I don't think he will share anymore drama with me because I went crazy about it.. I even couldn't sleep.. hehe.. But I know he watched Full House, GTO, and some movies and he is now planning to download my name is kim sam soon.
wintersky18

Wow! L4E, it's really amazing that you get to like Asian dramas and movie. Me too, I'm really crazy with SGCH too. Anyway welcome to the club. I do hope you get to watch other dramas, Full House & Kim Sam Soon are really good dramas.
L4E

Thank you wintersky18 ^^

coltturkey

Hi, I'm from Germany!
Raymond

ilaria82

Ciao!!^^ I'm from Como-Italy^^!coltturkeywe're neighbours!!
Raymond

welcome! aboth of you are asians also?
ilaria82

Thank u for the welcome!^^Nope,I'm 100% italian ( even tho I'd like to be asian,eheh Wink )
Raymond

how did you become a fan of Korean series?
ilaria82

Well,I studied chinese and japanese at the university in Milan,so I've always been interested in everything that's asiatic! But I didn't know anything about korean culture and drama 'till I watched My Girl!I saw it by chance in d-addicts and decided to dl it!!It was great!!Then I downloaded other k-series and I have to say that k-dramas are the best!!I watched 3 Iron and I fell in love with oppa^^I'm also interested now in korean culture:this september I'm moving to Beijing for 1 year to study and work and I'm already planning my winter holiday in Korea!!I'd like also to go to Vietnam and Philippines too!!These places are so fascinating!!^^Raymond,u come from Philippines?(sorry if I'm mistaken^^;WinkI'd really love to visit it!!U should come to Italy also^^I'd cook u some spaghetti, eheh^^
Raymond

pasta are widely known here. quite easy to cook. lol! i'm from the Philpiines and if ever you will come here I hope you will have a great time. Italy has a great history. it was once called (the Grandeur that was Rome" according to the myth it was founded by remus and romulus who were nursed by a she wolf. I remember that Itlay is boot shape country.
ilaria82

Yup!I'm feeling really ignorant 'cos I know quite nothing about Philippines!!^^;;; I have to read smt about!!!The myth about the creation of the Great Roman Empire is really fascinating! In fact I love very much my country because of the history, art and also food (I'm eating pizza rite now, eheh),u seem to know Italy very well!Have u ever been here? And how did u get into k-dramas Raymond?(too many questions, sorry^^;;Wink
Raymond

history is my favorite subject. I like julius ceasar's famous line "I came, I saw, I conquered" Nero who started the great fire rome was also remembered and now we have "nero cd burner program" Italy has a rich history. be proud that you're a part of it.

here in the philippines they're showing loads of k series. but it will die down one day because before, latin series were really famous here. but now, it's k dramas turn but it seems to me japanese dramas are soon to take over though. in europe they're not showing k dramas right? you can only download thme or watch it in a cable t.v.
ilaria82

Yes,I'm already proud, eheh!^^ After my degree,I'll have some time and I wanna learn smt about Philippines history so we can talk about it^^Do u study Raymond?University?I'm finishing next month and I'm so happy-need a change-

Really?I hope k-dramas won't die down in Philippines, I seriously think that they're the best among japanese and chinese series in term of acting and plot!Unfortunately here in Europe they aren't showing any asiatic dramas, so I dl them from d-addicts or clubbox..I'd really love to watch them on tv,but then I'd be sad if they become famous here, eheh! It's like wanting to have smt for yourself! Embarassed
Raymond

honestly, when the first asia novela showned here, I was not satisfied I mean I find filipino actors more good looking (miles away) compared to them. but then as you watch them regualary you are able to appreciate them.
ilaria82

Yup,I can understand what u mean..when I saw my first asian drama,a japanese drama, the male didn't seem attractive to me,but now..well,I'm finding the majority of western and specifically italian guys (a part from some soccer players Razz ) not handsome at all!!But I like very much korean guys!!! Embarassed I never saw a philippines'actor!!Can u suggest me some hot guy??Eheh, wanna take a peep Wink
Raymond

here are some pix of what filipinos look like:

ilaria82

Kyaaa!!The 1st guy is so cute!!>.< Is he an actor?Do u know some italian celeb?Maybe some soccer players?I like so much Valentino Rossi of moto gp^^Do u like also j and tw or chinese drama?
wintersky18

Hi Ilaria... the first guy is an actor here in the Philippines. He's one of the most sought after actor here, he's good in acting and he can sing. He is Piolo Pascual, well I guess he's half Filipino and half german. He's really cute in person hehehehe Very Happy But I like Jae Hee more hahahahah Very Happy I'm really biased!!!!

Regarding asian novelas here in the Philippines...I think korean dramas will flourish here in the Philippines for a very long time...mainly because of light drama plot, gentle characters, cutesy things/gadgets koreans have and being conservative in some themes. And somehow our cultures could relate with one another...Unlike Raymond, I'm really an avid fan of Asian movies...and I really find asian actors attractive.heheheheh Very Happy Well, I do hope Asian films & dramas will also be exposed in Italy. Hope you really come here in the Philippines.

Nice meeting you...manaso pangapsumnida!

Chalga! (take care in korean)
Raymond

yeah, he's piolo pascual! I do quite fancy him actually. the only soccer players I know are:

david beckham (because of victoria, i'm a huge spice girls fan)
cristiano ronaldo
ilaria82

Thank u for the info!!*running to check some piolo pascual pics^^*
I totally agree wintersky18!!!Korean actors are just so hot!!!I've found many attractive guys in k-drama and also..many have a nice butt..*perverted in action,wahahah*Generally speaking I find myself more drawn towards the asiatic type..maybe'cos I'm watching everyday dramas and all the stuff related,but really,I don't find italian guys attractive anymore..well..I must admit that it's quite hard to find some interesting guys here since a couple of years..I'm complicated^^;;;
Uhm,there are a few cute italian soccer players like Fabio Cannavaro or Simone and Filippo Inzaghi,u should check them!!^^
Raymond

I fogot to share this. his name is daniel "cloud" campos he is also a filipino. one of madonna's b-boy dancers

ilaria82

Oh gosh!!He's freaking hot!!Actually, looking at your avatar, it seemed a known face, but couldn't recognize him!!I so love that video( I like Madonna^^)
Raymond

cloud is the only filipino b-boy I know that can do extreme break dancing with combination of martial arts.

wintersky18

By the way Ilaria, regarding Piolo Pascual...he did a movie in Italy before...the tiitle of the movie was Milan, i think it was also shown in Italy., I don't know if you're familiar with it.
ilaria82

Omg!!Break dancing with martial arts??I'd like to see him doing that!!It must be amazing!!
A movie in Italy??Really??Milan..never heard about it..I have to search on the net for some info!!So I suppose he was in Milan..gosh,I go there every 2 days!!How is it that I'm always missing hot foreign boys who come in Italy??
polabola

yup it's near examiner street. My house is actually in the San Francisco (Philippines, not USA Laughing) area, nearer FPJ's house than to Ninoy Aquino's house lol

wow Ilaria, Sardegna is pretty and pristine! I like the beach photos, but going to Italy or to Europe in general is mighty expensive, almost reaching a hundred thousand pesos for a typical week stay in there Smile

hello there ilaria82... you're planning to have your holiday in boracay? whaww... how much does the air fare cost to and fro? i really wanted to have a tour in europe... (wishful thinking....) i really wanted to visit france... hehe... (in my dreams...) anywayz, when you come here in the philippines try not to settle down in boracay... there are still many beautiful places here... try to visit this site... http://www.tourism.gov.ph/ i hope it could give you some ideas on where to go when you're already here.... ^-^

btw, the Sardegna Island is beautiful... I hope... I wish I could go there too... ^-^
Raymond

even if I have enough money to go to europe. it will take me ages for my visa to be aproved.
polabola

^^ haha me too, they might think I'm a terrorist lol Laughing
ilaria82

Fianlly back from my friends'house..we spent 2 whole days preparing celebration for a dear friend who's getting married!! Very Happy
I didn't know there were so many problems with visa&co to come here in Europe!Yup,here life is quite expensive, but u can find hostel or little hotels where price are still acceptable..transports in Italy are not really expensive, but always late(stupid italian government)! If I didn't leave for China this september I'd gladly host u guys,I'm quite use to it^^No problem^^
sassyging:thank u so much for the link,I'm gonna explore it,eheh!!Wanna plan a detailed holiday^^I'm going to Philippines from China so I don't know how much the ticket is..to go from Italy to Beijing is 700 euro,I think about 900 US dollars,for us it's a very good price!France is very good,but..Italy..is better..wahahhaha,u know there's always competition between Italy and France,we don't like each other very much^^;
polabola

^^ wow congratulations to your friend! I love wedding parties hehehe the food is usually/always great! ^_^

I didn't know that transportation in Italy is always late lol, and it's nice to hear that there are affordable hotels around since I always think that Italy is so expensive hehehe. I would love to go there when I have enough money already (and that would be in 20+ years or so hehehe)

I also didn't know that France and Italy are in some sort of competition. That's a nice trivia. I love both countries, but I like Italian food better (pasta and smoked meat mmmm)

I've been to China already and it's quite an interesting place. Even though I'm chinese by blood, I can't seem to figure out the people there since they're so different lol. I love the haggling and getting bargains since prices in vendors could be slashed into more than half lol ^_^ makes me one happy camper hehehhe...
sassyging

ows? I didn't know that there were such competitions... (Now I get paid for not paying attention to World History...hehe...lolz...) And OMG the price is really shocking...! Shocked I might be able to reach FRance when I'm in my 50's... hahaha... And when I come there I hope to come to Italy also and visit you... Lolz... Laughing

like polabola... I love pasta!!! yummy!!! I like spaghetti...so much!!! and some carbonara and.... hmm...^-^

centuries ago it was greece and italy right?
ilaria82

Ok guys I'm gonna cook u spaghetti, carbonara pizza and lasagne^^my mom taught me how to cook'em!!When I went to Beijing a friend and I usually organized "Italy's nights"and we cooked for the whole dormitory in the university,it was really funny^^
Most expensive places in Italy are big cities-obviously-'cos they're relly touristic, but u still can find good offers: last month I went to Florence and I spent, for the hotel 25 euro per night breakfast included! But u can also find 15/20 euro per night if u're lucky!
U're right Raymond,be4 it was Rome and Greece..I don't know since when we developed this hatred between France and Italy..it's quite strange'cos we are more similar to spanish so I thought it'd be natural to be in competition with them..maybe it's because italian people are very passionate, while french are quite snobbish,we're more down to earth..but I'm not really objective since I don't like french either..I went to Paris a few times and I really love the city, but not the people:if u aren't french or speak french they look at u as a stupid Mad

italians are warm people....it is obvious from the way ilaria interacts with us here....

15-25 Euro is affordable, roughtly more than a thousand pesos hehehe. and in Florence! I would love to go there lol where most of the greatest artists came from like the Medicis and Michael Angelo *flies in art heaven*

Italian nights in Beijing. The one thing that connects Italy to China...noodles! hehehhe. How did the native Chinese find Italian food? I as a chinese descendant love it because of the taste and smell of the herbs, plus my mom rarely cooks Italian dishes

yeah I heard the french are the rudest people around (no offense to the french in this forum...if there's any). I've heard stories of store clerks turning down tourists who think that they couldn't afford to buy their goods lol. I agree the Italians are nice! we have two in this forum Very Happy
Raymond

I have a friend who's a french and he's always very kind and there to hlep with regard to video editing.oh well, french men measure up the most(imagine, more than 6 inches?) LOL!.
ilaria82

Eheh,I have too some french friends, they live quite near Italy..well,it also depends on the person, obviously^^
When we cooked in Beijing, our chinese friends enjoyed it^^I was so happy they liked what I cooked!!Especially pizza! And of course they'd cook for us delicious chinese dishes!!I love Beijing's food!^^And I also like chinese beer 'cos it's quite light in comparison with european or american beer!

Raymond

is it true that most peoiple who live in texas are mexicans?
polabola

kurisutaru welcome to the forums!!! do post more ^_^ we will love to hear from you hehehe
kurisutaru

Raymond wrote:

Nope. Even though the Southwestern part of Texas borders Mexico, it is a major misconception. The highest race percentage still remains to whites/caucasian. Overall, anglos/latin/mexican decents do take over the second highest population in Texas, but it is still a fraction to whites/caucasians. The thing about Texas is that ethnic diversity are distributed at various parts of Texas. For instance, there are still some parts of Texas that are dominated by whites, but some parts where diversity is high.

It's rather complicated to get into this subject... considering the fact that there are so many "other" population, where many people are mixed... therefore, hard to categorize them into demographic percentages. Oh, also with the recent Hurricane Katrina and Rita... it had displaced many families and induced the population of African Americans. Overall, I'm really proud of where I live because we took in most of the New Orleans affected families from Hurricane Katrina.

Yeah, I'm babbling on. Let's just say that where I live, it is very diverse; there's a bit of every ethnic. Smile

EDIT: Haha, I could've answered "no"... but I thought it would be interesting to share a part of Texas. Razz

ilaria82

Yaaah,Kurisutaru,u're so lucky!!My parents are only italian!!I guess u can speak well all those languages*__*
I arrived in Houston, then visited Galveston, San Antonio and El Pazo!Such beautiful places^^I'd like to visit them again 'cos I was little and I can't remember much..

polabola wrote:

I think so too. I find it more exotic when people are mixed with different races. Like Daniel Henny (French, Korean), Amerie (Black, Korean), Crystal Kay (Black, Japanese), Maggie Q (Polish-Irish, Vietnamese), Kristen Kreuk (Dutch, Chinese)... and so much more.

Because I'm mixed with different Asian ethnicities, it looks the same to (let's say) an American person. Heck, they think all orientals are Chinese.

ilaria82 wrote:

Houston? Ahh, that's so nice! Houston is the fourth biggest city in the Nation (USA) and I live there! Very Happy
Galveston... I live about 20 minutes away from Galveston, it's allright. I don't like the beach down there though... the water just doesn't look too tempting. =/
San Antonio! Did you visit the famous Alamo and the Riverwalk? The Alamo is an historic site during the Texas War for Independence. The Riverwalk has everything alongside a river; romantic gondola rides, dinner next to a river, riverboat, waterfalls...blahblahblah you get the gist.
El Paso... I've never been there, but I know it's SUPER hot! That's where the deserts are.

Hello to you too L4E. =]
ilaria82

Yup,same here in Italy:when they see an asian they all go for "he/she's chinese!" Confused I think too mixed people are lucky 'cos they can get familiar with different culture, learn perfectly different languages..and there's also that feeling to belong to different worlds..I think it's great!!Eheh^^
U live in Houston??Really?Eheh, maybe I met u on the street Wink I can't remember very much, but I think we went to visit Alamo because of its history (my daddy really loves US'history^^),I have to rewatch the video we made at the time, eheh^^
Raymond

well, I think you can easily identify is a person is asian or not.
ilaria82

Raymond wrote:

Eheh, that for sure..but I don't like when italian people keep saying, when they're adressing to asian"oh,yes,u're chinese/japanese" they hardly ask "where are u from?" like when they do with other foreigners..maybe it's because they think asian look very similar, still I don't like it Confused My chinese friend got annoyed with the ritual question "are u japanese?",eheh
polabola

^^ yeah I observed that when people think of Asians it equates to the yellow race, what they don't realize is that Asians are a diverse kind of people including the arabs, indians, malays and other race.
ilaria82

I totally agree with u!!Luckily now smt is changing also in Italy..we have many foreigners and they're starting to integrate in our society..mentality is changing^^
Raymond

I hate it when I typed my messages so fast and didn't realize that my spellings are wrong.
kurisutaru

Because it has become so common, it doesn't bug me when a non-Asian person associate me as being Chinese or Japanese (even though I am... but that's besides the point) or any other race. I only get annoyed when they consider stereotypes as "facts" among the Asian race.

For instance:

-All Asians eat dogs.
-We know kung-fu.
-Asian men have small penis. (EDIT: Okay, not that I am an Asian guy or indicating that I am an expert in that area... just naming popular stereotypes. =])
-They start mimicking our language... as if they are correctly doing so: "Ching-chong-chong."
-Asian women are submissive or sexually available.
-Asians can't act/sing.

Yeah... the list goes on.

So you did went to the Alamo! I went there on a latin trip when I was a senior in high school... it wasn't as grand as I expected it to be. Perhaps it's because they tore down everything and left only one small section as a representation of the site. And about seeing you, I'm not so sure about that. Houston is hugeeee. Also, I'm originally from California. I moved here when I was 11 years old... yeah, which was AGESSS ago. ^_^

I've been to Los Angeles and San Francisco... I love the weather and atmosphere there. =)

that doesn't go only for pornstars....the people in general are hot! lol. Most Americans with polish blood in them look stunning and we have a forumer here to prove it! Laughing

and I didn't know a lot of people think that Poland is a backward country. I think it's more like Italy wherein there are lots of relics from the earlier centuries...

I envy both of you Devi and Ilaria because at least, the old architectural wonders of your countries are not yet destroyed and are well preserved, here in the Philippines, a lot of the old buildings from the Spanish area are either dilapitated or completely wrecked to pieces Sad

Really? But why dilapidated?? Shocked Well,I think in Italy the government doesn't put too much effort in preserving our artistic heritage..some places are well protected, but in the south, like in Sicily there are many beautiful museums or churches that are going to be ruined because noone cares about them..that makes me really sad..the situation in the north is slightly different:north is richer and the regions spends a lot of money for museums, etc.
polabola

^^ oh at least they're well preserved Smile, I didn't know that the conditions in the north and south are different...I learned something again! Very Happy

and...yes dilapitated and destroyed during the War (WW I and II). I think they are the worst hit victims of it Sad. The Americans and Japanese didn't care about bombing them at all...not that I hate both races of course lol
