really?I don't know here in Italy,but Poland has a good reputation also here I think..if u hear speaking about a near backward country here,usually it's Albany..

I envy both of you Devi and Ilaria because at least, the old architectural wonders of your countries are not yet destroyed and are well preserved, here in the Philippines, a lot of the old buildings from the Spanish area are either dilapitated or completely wrecked to pieces

Really?But why dilapidated?? Well,I think in Italy the government doesn't put too much effort in preserving our artistic heritage..some places are well protected,but in the south,like in Sicily there are many beautiful museums or churches that are going to be ruined because noone cares about them..that makes me really sad..the situation in the north is slightly different:north is richer and the regions spends a lot of money for museums,etc.

and...yes dilapitated and destroyed during the War (WW I and II). I think they are the worst hit victims of it . The Americans and Japanese didn't care about bombing them at all...not that I hate both races of course lol

I see..in wartime it's always like that..but I have to say that in Italy there was little artistic damage from the bombing during WW II..it's a great relief!
Yes,there's a big difference between north and south,also at a cultural level 'cos north was conquered and dominated by different people (austrian or french) than the south (muslims and spanish) so we have also quite different mentality^^
